Dmitry Sergeevich Likhachev (1906-1999) – a literary critic and a historian of culture, an academician and a public figure, a famous scientist, the author of fundamental works, dedicated to history of Russian literature (old Russian literature mainly) and to history of Russian culture. He is an author of hundreds of works (including dozens of books) in wide range of subjects of theory and history of old Russian literature. Many of his works were translated into English, Bulgarian, Italian, Polish, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese , German. A small planet N 2877 (1984) was named after D.S.Likhachev.
