Valentina Grizodubova (1910-1993) is a Soviet aviator, colonel, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of socialist labour.
In 1938 women crew under the command by Grizodubova (2nd pilot – P.D. Osipenko, navigator – M.M. Raskova) conducted nonstop flight on “Rodina” aircraft (ANT-37) from Moscow to Vladivostok. This flight has become the women world record of flight distance (6450 km in 26 hours 29 min).
During the Great Patriotic War in 1942-1944 Grizodubova commanded the regiment of long distance aviation, conducted more than 200 military flights. In 1946 she retired and then worked for civil aviation.
The stamp represents the portrait of V. Grizodubova, aircraft ANT-37.
