Lev Davidovich Landau (1908-1968) is a prominent Soviet physicist, academician, Nobel laureate (1962) for his works on cryogenics. He was considered to be a legendary figure in the history of the native and world science. People said about him: “there were not locked doors for him in the great building of physics of the 20 century”. Landau’s great merit is the foundation of the native school of theoretical physicists and the classic course of theoretical physics in cooperation with Evgeny Lifshitz. There is a portrait if L.D. Landau (photo by E. Kassin, 1964) on the stamp.
