Andrey Rublev (1360-70 - 14300) was a Russian painter and the best craftsman of Moscow school of painters. Rublev enfleshed in his works his sublimated uderstanding of human spiritual beauty and moral strength. These are the qualities inhering in Zvenigorod icons, where brief and soft lines, wide brush-work are close to the monumental painting touch. Rublev took part in creating icons and wall-painting of the following cathedrals: Blagoveshchensky (Annunciation) Cathedral in Moscow Kremlin (1405), Uspensky (Assumption) Cathedral in Vladimir (1408), Troitsky Cathedral in Troitse-Sergieva Lavra (1425-27), Spassky (Saviour's) cathedral of the Spaso-Andronnikov monastery in Moscow (the 1420s). Rublev is also said to create the fragments of Zvenigorod Uspensky (Assumption) Cathedral wall-painting, Zvenigorod icons and some miniatures.
