K.I.Tchukovsky (1882-1969; real name -N.V.Korneychukov) was a writer, a literature critic, an interpreter and Doctor of Philology. The stamps feature the characters from his books " Moidodyr", "Tarakanishche" (1923, both tales), "Muha-Tsokotuha" (1924, entitled "Muha's Wedding"), "Barmalei" (1925), "Aybolit" (1929, entitled "The Adventures of Aybolit"). The tales are nice and witty, that is why children like them so much. K.I.Tchukovsky was the honorary Doctor of Literature of the Oxford University, and a lot of his books are translated into foreign languages.
