Ferapontov Monastery, which is situated in the Kirillov district of the Vologda region, is unique in its beauty, authenticity and consistency of architectural solutions of different centuries. This is the only fully preserved in Russia from the beginning of XVI century example of the interaction of architecture and fresco painting. Here in the Cathedral of Birth of the Holy Virgin Mary there is a full ensemble of the frescoe painting of Dionysius, the celebrated Old Russian icon painter, which was created in 1502 and has survived till nowadays.
The ensemble of Ferapontov Monastery belongs to the historical and cultural monuments of federal significance. Due to the Presidential Decree it is included on the State list of especially valuable objects of peoples of the Russian Federation and on the list of World Cultural Heritage by the session of the UNESCO.
The souvenir sheet depicts the ensemble of Ferapontov Monastery and the icon "St. Nicholas of Myra" from the Museum of Dionysius.
