№ 1352. The 1150th anniversary of foundation of Velikiy Novgorod.

      In 2009, Veliky Novgorod celebrates 1150-year anniversary.
Novgorod city was first mentioned in Russian chronicles "Tale of Bygone Years".
This is one of the oldest cities in Russia , the cradle of Russian history, "the father of Russian cities". In the Middle Ages it was the center of the Novgorod republic, known as the "Mr. Novgorod the Great."
The stamp represents an antique image of the Novgorod Kremlin with stylized Sophia Cathedral and the emblem of the city on the background of birch bark.
