«The Saint Trinity» by Andrey Roubljov. «The Saint Trinity» is a perfect masterpiece of Andrey Roubljov (the beginning of the 15th century) made for the iconostasis of the cathedral of the St. Trinity of the Troitse-Sergiev monastery. Roubljov’s icon-painting made a great impact of the 15th century art: the motive of spirituality appeared in the icons which was not peculiar to the ascetic Novgorod icons.

V. Serov. “A girl with peaches” (1887). “A girl with peaches” is one of the best portraits of the famous painter and graphic artist V.Serov. Vera Mamontova, a daughter of the famous patron of art and manufacturer, the owner of Abramtsevo estate, S.I.Mamontov. The figure of a girl, sitting at the table personify the harmony a light and cloudless day.

I.I. Levitan. “Above the eternal calm” (1894). The picture has been written on the bank of Udomlja lake in Tver region. It conveys the infinity of the vast Russian nature expanses and casts a philosophical mood over the spectators, which is implicitly expressed through associations, inspired by the vast earth fields and a heavy sky with vigorous weighing upon clouds.

M.V. Vasnetsov. “The epic heroes” (1898). M.V. Vasnetsov applied to the epic literature about such heroes as Ilja Muromets, Dobrinja Nikitich and Aljosha Popovich – the defendants of Russia. The work on the picture has lasted for about 20 years. The fantastic images are expressed here in true to life, vivid and convincing forms as in all fairy-tale works of the artist.
