St Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg was erected in honour of Peter the Great. It was named so after St Isaac Dalmatsky whose day (May 30) coincides with the birthday of Peter the Great. St Isaac’s Cathedral was built in 1818 -1858. It was designed by A.A.Montferran.
