The multicolor stamps feature the works by the battle-painter V.V.Vereshagin. His pictures are based on the slice-of-life approaches made at the events in which he took part, or during his journeys. Vereshagin was against invasive wars, he thundered against barbarism and religiosity, but he also showed the courage of people fighting against the invaders ("Let me come up!" (1887-1895), State Historic Museum, Moscow), worked hard in the shere of ethnographic-household and landscape painting ( "The Mausoleum Taj Mahal in Agra", 1874-1876, Moscow state Tretyakov Gallery). Vereshagin died when the armour-clad "Petropavlovsk" burst up in Port-Artur. The coupon between the stamps features the portrait of V.V.Vereshagin and his life years.
