Olympic Games are world sport competitions, based on the Ancient Greek Olympic Games. The stamp of this souvenir sheet features a runner, a participant of the Olympic Fire Relay-race, and a quote from Pierre de Coubertin, a French writer and the father of the Modern Olympic Games (1863-1937): "Oh Sport, you are the world". On the margins of the sheet there are the state flags of the countries – participants of the Olympic Games, a sketch of an ancient Greek vase, and the Olympic Rings. The text reads: "Centenary of the Modern Olympic Games".
