M.M.Fokin (1880-1942) was a ballet dancer and a choreographer. In 1901-1910 he worked as a teacher in the St.Petersburg theatre studio. He started working as a choreographer in 1905. In 1909-1912 and 1914 Fokin took part in "The Russian Seasons" in Paris and London. His ballets "Petrushka" and "Fire Bird" by I.F.Stravinsky, and also "Shakherezada" by N.A.Rimsky-Korsakov were shown there. The stamps feature episodes from these ballets.
