The Siege of Sevastopol and the Crimean Campaign lasted during World War II from September 24, 1941,to July 4, 1942.
The combat operations of the Soviet Army to defend Sevastopol, the key naval base of the Black Sea fleet, where the Red Army soldiers and sailors displayed heroism and valor. The Siege of Sevastopol and the Crimean Campaign had a primary strategic importance. During 10 months, the Soviet Army contained the enemy in the southern front and prevented from launching an offensive on the Caucasus.
