In 1747 D.I.Vinogradov, a Russian chemist and a painter, discovered how to get a high-grade porcelain mixture. He immediately developed the Russian porcelain fabrication technique. The stamp features a tobacco-box, made by D.I.Vinogradov in 1752. The box is kept in the State Hermitage in St.Petersburg.

In the late 18th century the Imperial porcelain factory produced various sets of china, vases and portrait busts of early classicism. The stamp features a candlestick made in 1750-1760 by an unknown master. It is kept in the State Historical Museum in Moscow.

In the early 19th century and especially after the Patriotic war of 1812 the Imperial porcelain factory masters worked in Empire. Most articles with war theme painting and portraits of the war heroes and also sculptures were designed by S.S.Pimenkov. The stamp features a "Water-bearer" sculpture also designed by S.S.Pimenkov in 1818 and kept in the State Historical Museum in Moscow.

In the late 19th century the Imperial porcelain factory practised the underglaze painting technique. Statuettes designed by K.A.Somov became very precious in the pre-revolution period. The stamp features "A Lady in a Mask" sculpture designed by K.A.Somov in 1910 and kept in the Moscow State Historical Museum.

The Imperial porcelain factory in St.Petersburg was founded in 1744 and was called "A Porcelain Manufactory". The stamp features a set of china marked with a monogram "VKKN" and designed by F.S.Solntsev in 1848. It is kept in the Moscow State Historical Museum. The margins of the sheetlet feature the flower motif traditional for the factory.
