The Statue is a gift of the Russian government and Moscow to the American people on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America by Ch. Columbus. There is a museum, a conference-hall and observation platforms inside. The Statue was designed by Z.K.Tsereteli in 1992.
