The Solovetsky lighthouse is situated on the Sekirnaja mountain – the highest point of the Solovky island and it is the biggest lighthouse in the White Sea. Its height under the Sea level is 123 meters and its light is seen around nearly 22 miles. The lighthouse receives the electrical power from Diesel engines and the wind turbine standing close to it is the reserve source of energy. It’s noteworthy that the lighthouse is placed above the church. The lighthouse doesn’t work in summer in the period of white nights, but there are days in December when the lamp is practically never switched off.
