City of Vladivostok was founded in 1860. Its history begins with the signing of "Treaty of Aigun" between Russian and Tai-Tsing (China) countries of "the 16th day of 1858 year". Initiator of the treaty was the governor-general of Eastern Siberia, Nikolai Muraviev-Amurskiy. As a result, Russia has acquired the coastal territory in the Far East of the State. A military post on the shore of Golden Horn Bay was preceded the future city. N.N. Muraviev-Amurskiy called the post Vladivostok from the words "own" and "East". In 1860, the national flag of the Russian Empire was raised on the shore of the Sea of Japan. In 1871 the post with the residence of military governor and the main base of the Siberian military flotilla were transferred to Vladivostok. In 1880, Vladivostok was officially declared a city.
The postage stamp depicts the panorama of the bay "Golden Horn", Tokarev lighthouse, coat of arms of Vladivostok.
