The stamp depicts seeing the Russian winter off, the so called Maslenitsa festival, which lasts a few days and marks the start of spring and agricultural works. During the Maslenaya week there are lots of outdoor fetes across Russia, when people indulge in sledging, outdoor games, dances, festive food which includes blinis, tea and barankas (ring-shaped biscuits). The festival traditionally ends with burning a dummy of Winter. The text on the stamp reads "Seeing the Russian Winter Off" and "Europe".
