The first Russian postal stamp came into circulation on 1 January, 1858, when the Head of Postal Department V.F.Adlerberg, having received a consent from the Emperor Nicolas 1 for introducing "stamped stamps" in Russia, sent a "Note on introduction of postal stamps for simple correspondence" to the State Council. The first postal stamp is presented in the form of angle pair with wide margins and genuine glue in "The treasury of postal payment signs of the Russian Federation" of the Central Museum of Communication named by A.S.Popov. A similar pair in the same irreproachable degree of undamaged state is hardly to exist anywhere in the world. The following stamp issues of 1858 with the same design were issued into circulation for internal correspondence payment in perforated image – for convenient separation the stamps from the sheet.
