Alexander Andreevich Ivanov (1806-1858) was a hictoric, landscape and portrait painter. His early works were dedicated to ancient history and ancient Greek mythology. The painter applied to Bible subjects in 1930. Ivanov A.A. is an author of multiple pictures, his most famous picture, the work of all his life is the picture "Christ's appearance to people", at which he had been working for more than 25 years. The painter's portrait made by S.P.Postnikov (the State Tretiakov Gallery) is depicted on the stamp.
