№ 1040. 175th Anniversary of Moscow State Technical University n.a. N.E. Bauman.

The 175th anniversary of the Moscow State Technical University named by Bauman/ The Moscow State Technical University (MGTU) named by Bauman dates from 1830 when the emperor Nicolas I approved “The official standing on the Handicraft educational institution”, which was ordered to be founded by the Queen dowager Maria Feodorovna as early as in 1826. For this purpose the perished in 1812 outskirts castle in Nemetskaya sloboda (German village) was built. The building was rebuilt in the late Moscow empire style. It is decorated in its central part by the many figures composition by sculptor I.P.Vitali “Minerva” which symbolizes the achievements of the Science and the practical skills of a craftsman. Well-known statesmen, the outstanding general and main constructors, the famous scientists and cosmonauts, the officials of the prominent organizations and firms are among it’s more than 160 000 graduates. The Technical University named by N.E.Bauman was included in the State Fund of the especially precious establishments of the cultural heritage of the Russian Federation on the 24th of January, 1995.
