Leonid O. Utesov (1895-1982). A singer, People's Artist of the USSR (1965). Utesov began as an artist in 1911, and in 1921 joined operetta. In 1929 he became an organisator, director, and soloist of the USSR's first jazz orchestra (Tea-Jazz, later The State Variety Orchestra of the RSFSR). As an artist, Leonid Utesov promoted lyricism, zest for life, and love for the homeland. He and his orchestra performed many popular songs by Soviet composers, and took part in a movie "Jolly Fellows" (1934). The stamp features a portrait of L.Utesov and a picture of his orchestra when performing on stage.

In 1933-1948 she worked for the Musical and Variety Department of the State Union of Musical, Variety, and Circus Enterprises. Ruslanova was an excellent folk singer, famous for her lyricism, melodious singing, and panache. A fine improviser, she also performed many songs by Soviet composers. The stamp features a portrait of L.Ruslanova, and Ruslanova in a folk costume in summer landscape.
