436 1.50 40×28 The stamp features the building of Moscow Art Theatre. The theatre opened on 26 October 1898 in the building of Hermitage Theatre. In 1902 the theatre moved to the new premises, the house which was rebuilt by F.O.Shekhtel. Moscow Art Theatre was established by the distinguished cultural leaders V.I.Nemirovich-Danchenko and K.S.Stanislavsky. Moscow Art Theatre reformed the repertoire, the art of acting, and directing, and greatly influenced world theatre. The stamp features characters of various plays staged at Moscow Art Theatre over the years. The front of the building bears a sculptured laurel wreath with the words "The 100th Anniversary of MAT". 1.50 0.30
