The Spasskaya Tower featured on the stamp is considered the main tower of the Moscow Kremlin. It was built in 1491 by an Italian architect Pietro Solari. First it was called Frolovskaya. It was renamed Spasskaya in 1658, when the Saviour was painted above the gate. The Great Kremlin Palace was built in 1838-1849 by a group of architects under the guidance of K.A.Ton. The palace front faces the Moskva. It is 125 m long from west to east. The palace was a temporary residence of the emperor family when they came to Moscow.
